Passenger Accident Management & Insurance Agency,Inc. (PAMI) Organized on the first week of July, 1999 Primarily to act as managers, managing agents or administrators of corporations, partnerships or persons, with respect to their business properties; To provide management and technical advise, assistance and services for insurance, commercial, industrial, manufacturing and other kinds of enterprises; To undertake, carry on, assist or participate in the management, reorganization or liquidation of corporations, partnerships, and other forms of business firms and entities. On 23 July 1999, with a paid-up capitalization of PhP 5,000,000.00 and authorized to raise the same capitalization to PhP 30,000,000.00, the Securities and Exchange Commission approved its corporation papers. Thereupon, PAMI, for its initial venture and at the instance of a group of nineteen (19) insurance companies, introduced the concept of organizing the insurance companies into a consortium in order to alleviate the woes of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in according the commuting public the necessary insurance coverage in case accidents happened. PAMI was at the forefront of the evolution of the Passenger Personal Accident Insurance Program from its inception as the Passenger Accident Insurance Coverage in LTFRB. Its refinements, its revitalization by adopting the two-group, odd-even scheme, to its final concept now which is the “Two Management Group: Odd-Even System”. In the same token, PAMI spearheaded the Enhanced Third Party Liability Insurance of the Land Transportation Office which was designed for public utility vehicles. Considered as a milestone in the industry, the ECTPL, under a “Two Group System,” has increased compensation benefits of accident victims to PhP 100,000.00 from a previous of PhP 50,000.00 at the same premium rates. The ECTPL, like the PPAIP, is an “all risk – no fault” policy which guarantees claims payment within five (5) working days upon submission of documents, eradication of fake insurance policies in the market, abolition of predatory pricing and prompt and proper payment of taxes to the Government. *total claims paid to date P332,000,000.00+ The concept of a management firm for the PPAIP and the ECTPL was a novel innovation in that the LTFRB and the LTO were not equipped to directly undertake the program as both agencies had other pressing concerns in the fulfillment of their respective mandates while the insurance companies could not harness themselves to ensure accomplishment of the objectives of the two programs, more particularly those that did not concern insurance matters.
